SummerQuest privacy policy
Effective date: October 18, 2026
Who we are: SummerQuest is made by an independent developer. You can reach us by email at zaclements@gmail.com.
The short version
SummerQuest is a learning game for elementary-school children. Everything the game remembers stays on your child's tablet. The current version has no accounts and no ads. Nothing is tracked or analyzed, and the app contains no third-party code that could do these things. We don't receive any information about your child, and nothing is sent anywhere. The game works with the internet turned off.
What stays on the tablet
So your child can pick up where they left off, the game saves these things in the app's own storage on the tablet:
- The name your child types in. It can be a first name or a nickname. Please don't use a full name. It is only shown on screen, in the game and the Parent area.
- Their avatar: the animal and color they chose, and the grade level picked when they started.
- Progress: stars and best scores for each stage, badges, streaks, which lessons they finished, and how much learning time they did each day. It also keeps a list of which kinds of questions they got right or wrong, which the game uses to choose what to practice next. The Parent area shows this to you too.
- Pets: which pet follows them around the island, and which pet celebrations they've already seen. Pets hatch and grow from learning; they can't be bought.
- Coins and what they bought with them: coins are earned by playing. Your child spends them on hats and home decorations. These can't be bought with real money.
- High scores in the mini-games.
- Settings: sound on or off, and the graphics setting.
Writing practice works the same way. The game reads your child's sentences or stories on the tablet to give them a score. The writing itself is not saved.
This information is not copied to us or to anyone else. We cannot see it, and we cannot get it back for you if the app is removed.
What the app doesn't do
- No accounts. There is no sign-up, no login, no email address and no password.
- No ads of any kind.
- No analytics or tracking. The app doesn't count what your child does or record when they play. It doesn't build a profile of them. There are no advertising IDs or device fingerprints.
- No third-party SDKs. There are no outside services built into the app: no ad networks, analytics tools, crash reporters or social media plugins.
- No data leaves the device. The app makes no internet connections. All pictures, sounds and recorded voice lessons are included in the app itself.
- No in-app purchases. The current version doesn't ask for money.
- No chat or sharing. There is no way for your child to contact other people or share anything they make.
- No links out of the app. There are no web pages, other apps or stores to tap through to.
- No location, camera, microphone or contacts. The app doesn't ask for any of them.
Some lessons may not have a recorded voice clip. Then the app can read the lesson text aloud with the tablet's own built-in voice. It only reads the lesson text. It never reads your child's name or anything your child typed.
Grown-ups only
The Parent area is behind a grown-up check: a multiplication question that's easy for an adult and hard for a young child. The same check protects resetting progress and changing the grade level.
Your rights as a parent
See what's saved. Open the Parent area (the 👨👩👧 button at the top of the screen) and answer the grown-up check. It shows your child's profile, coins, streak and progress.
Delete it. There are two ways:
- Reset in the app. In the Parent area, choose Danger zone → Reset all progress and answer the grown-up check. This deletes your child's name, avatar, grade, coins, progress, history, the things they bought with coins, and the mini-game high scores. The sound and graphics settings are kept: they belong to the tablet, not to your child.
- Uninstall the app, or clear its data in the tablet's Settings under Apps. This deletes everything the app saved, settings included.
We can't delete or change this information for you, because we never have it. It is only on your child's tablet.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
SummerQuest is made for children. We don't collect, use or share personal information from children: the little the game remembers never leaves the tablet. If that ever changed, we would update this policy first. We would also ask for a parent's permission before collecting anything, as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the new version at the same place and change the effective date at the top. If a future version adds things like ads or purchases, or needs to collect any information, we will update this policy before that version is released.
